Hi Gary; Just wanted to tell you what my RV6C Vertical had been up to here in Florida since the summer of 2004.  You can see that my Vertical is ground mounted with 12 radials about 20 feet long place on the grass.  What has it accomplished (2) WAS, DXCC (120 confirmed), WAC, (2) NFL 1st place SSB Low Power DX Contest (ARRL), not bad for doing it barefoot.  Just like to ask I am looking for a Vertical that covers 160 to 10 it could be up to 45 feet tall (I live in Deed Restrictive Development I would hide it among the pines.  Anyway just keep up the good work!  73's Ed Lapinski  KV1P

*Production is going pretty much as scheduled. We were shorted some of the tubing we had on order from the mill, however they are getting that to us ASAP. It has casused some delay with our production schedule, but has not put us too far behind our schedule.

CL-33 Remarks! 2-18-08

The best yagi antenna ever made, bar none. In the 80's, I traded a one year old HyGain TH6-DXX for a very used (had type N conn.) CL33 and have never looked back Tom Gentry, W5RG, long a silent key, swore by your CL-33 and it was he that got me to go with the CL-33. Best decision I have ever made in antennas.   Attached is an updated pic of the "old" CL-33 with the "new" WARC kit. Made first contacts ever on 12 and 17 M using 100 watts from a TS570 working the Ducie island DXpedition near Tahiti (made contacts with them on the first call on these bands). The 17M dipole performs as good as a multi-element yagi.   There are two pictures attached. The first is the antenna on a step ladder pointed west as I "tuned it up before going on the tower. This is when I heard VP6DX on Ducie, called him and got him on the first call. Pretty good for an antenna at 6 feet high. Mt son and I put it up an hour later at 55 feet. and cranked off Ducie contacts on 12, 15 and 20 M in no time. I am awaiting on 10M for the DXpedition to show up this afternoon.   Many thanks!   Roger White, W5RD Murphy, Texas

Jay,  If I'm too late, it's no problem. Here a a few pictures of my new anteena and tower installed in June of this year. I've done 3 or 4 RTTY Roundup's now, and I enjoy them a lt. Last year,I was lucky enough to win first place in the MidWset division,low power class. That was from this QTH, using my Orion, and an all band dipole srung in the trees at about 35 feet. This year, the new tower holds a Mosely Pro 67 C 3 at 58 feet, and resonant dipoles on 80 and 160. Needless to say, this is a much nicer setup. I think Mosley antennas are really under rated, as this thing works great!! I made my goal of 800 qso's in the roundup this year, and hopefully will have a good result in the final scoring. I am using a Ten Tec Orion, LDG AT-200 Pro tuner, and N1MM for software. If you need any more info, just drop me an e mail.

160, 80, 60, and 40 meter vertical.

Gary, Sr. is modifying this vertical from a military version. So far the results have been very, very good. It is a shortened vertical, however in "on air" tests, without radials it has had exceptional results. The vertical is going to be a basic design without any bells or whistles in order to keep the price way down.

We have worked a lot of DX on 160, 80, 60, and 40 meters just running 120 watts. It has also survived a surprise wind, snow storm of 70 MPH + without any problems. We think you will enjoy this antenna, especially those of you that have very limited space.

If you have a tuner you can also take it onto other frequencies, however it is designed to run direct on 160, 80, 60, and 40 meters with very little SWR! Total height is about 28 feet!

No Radials, and mounted in just one foot of soft dirt.

Keep an eye out for this antenna. More info to come.

Hullo Gary, I made the first tests with my new PRO96S. My first impression is that the antenna really overperforms my old PRO96, which was impressive itself. I was expecially impressed in the 40m performances ! On 30m I don't miss my S302 (element full size) which, as you know, has been destroied with the PRO96 due to a tower brake. Really a good job for a multiband antenna ! I can't imagine something better!

As you can see by my "small" roof tower, it's not as high as most installations, but, it works great! Had to use what I had, and that was it. The only problem I discovered was that the old rotor cable I had was one conductor short,so had to order some more. It arrived and got it installed the 26th. Nice to be able to turn the antenna. Yes, if I can hear them, I can work them. The antenna went together easily and I got it up on the roof by myself with no trouble what so ever. It was definitely worth the wait. I have had good reports back from people I have talked to with it. The AM-2N6 have not made any contact with but hope to in the future when 6 meters picks up and find some sideband on 2 meters around here. My wife said after this endeavor to get this Mosley antenna farm together in a 1 year period is enough junk in the air. They sure have a way ruining all the fun! You guys at Mosley are the greatest around for ordering parts or new antennas and for getting information from the engineering staff. To: Gary Sr & Jr: I would like to give you some feedback on the PRO-67-C I installed at the end of  October, 2006. First I was given a delivery of 30 working days which you beat by several days. Thank you!  Further, the marked and pre-drilled holes made assembly very straight forward.  I did have a few questions regarding tuning the 40 meter portion which were quickly answered by phone.The antenna was installed on a US Tower HDX-555 crank-up which is kept at around the 40 foot level most of the time. Band conditions have certainly not been great in the past 5 months, but below is a chart of the countries worked and confirmed from my log for the period.

I have DXCC Mixed mode worked and confirmed. I also have CW, 40 and 20 meter DXCC worked and they will hopefully be confirmed in the next couple of months. (I receive 2-5 DX QSL's every day.)  Not bad for five months! As you will note, I am on 40 meters a great deal.  I was concerned the PRO-67-C would not be high enough to provide a low takeoff angle for 40 meter DX.  I am sure it would work even better much higher, but I am extremely pleased with the results which are much better than I ever expected!   While I like to chase DX,  few of my contacts were 'Contest Contacts' i.e., signal report and location only. To say the least, I am very happy with the antenna. Attached is a photo of the installation.  If anyone has a question for a user, feel free to direct them to me. Wayne L. Smith K9MRD

Here is a picture of a TA-33 that is darn close to 50 years old, if it isn't. In Bob's email he mentions the "RED" worn out end tips. Well the last of those were made in 1958. Bob felt it was time to get a new one and just ordered a new TA-33-M taking advantage of our anniversary sale. (See Below) Thanks for a great picture.

Friends,   This morning a spoke with a fine gentleman "Gary Sr."  and ordered a new TA-33M, (on sale Yea!)  the TA-40Kr and a jug of the antenna coat.   This is the 3rd TA-33!The first one met an untimely end in the early 70's when a devastating storm ripped up roofs and trees and severely mangled my Mosley.   It found a second life though as "tomato" sticks in the garden (no wonder they were so big... residual RF) The second TA-33 now resides with my New York City Transit Radio Club "K2IRT" This antenna runs rings around the competition and gave us amazing field day results.   And this is the purpose of my letter. #1 just to confirm my order of October 30th, 2006 and... #2 send you some very interesting Photos of our TA-33 and the Statue of Liberty!   I am sending you this first group to see how you like them. There are more if you wish.   We set up our recent K2IRT Field day site at one of my Power Substations on the Brooklyn waterfront, in the shadow of the Brooklyn bridge, just north of the Statue of liberty.  These photos show Lady Liberty seemingly saluting the antenna! Double tag lines on each end of the antenna helped control it during a 28 mph gust. As the wind did let up, as it went up? About a 4 foot piece of aluminum angle iron was u bolted to the boom with a rope on the top, so as the antenna went up we could change the pitch, and send it up at a 45 degree angle to help us out getting it to the tower. You have so many testimonials on your website that I hesitated to add my own. but here goes anyway.

I was originally licensed as W9GZJ in 1949, but used dipoles only because of space and other factors. Got transferred to Connecticut in 1960 as W1RBO and again used a vertical antenna because of "ease" of installation. In both cases I had mediocre to poor results.

Then, in 1964 I got transferred back to the Midwest, still using poor antennas. Finally, in 1971 I bought a TA-33 Trap Master and mounted it on a six foot tripod on the roof of a ranch style house. I was amazed at the results even at this low height. Successfully worked a great deal of DX, including the South Pole, KC4USV with 5,9+ signal reports. That's when I started to work on my DXCC.

In 1976 I got transferred to San Diego and moved into an antenna restricted subdivision. I decided to mount the old tripod on a half door in a corner of the house and used a large pipe to mount the rotor and beam. But before I put up the beam, I cleaned it up with 00 steel wool, sprayed it with Krylon clear lacquer and recoated the sliding elements with Penatrox. It worked great! I figured if neighbors complained, I could take it down without a problem. No on did! I was W6TGK at the time.

In 1980, I got transferred back to the Midwest, still W6TGK, and this time I put up a Rohn 25G at 50 feet. Again, I went through the same antenna preparation as before and the antenna look "brand new".

Finally, in 1986, I retired and moved two miles south on  a 5/8 acre lot, put the Rohn 125 feet from the house and put up a US Towers TX-455 crank-up/tilt-over tower. This was going to be my "Last Hurrah". Again, I reconditioned the antenna, replaced some insulators on the driven element and up she went looking good as new!

I had a great time working DX and finally made my DXCC!

That antenna has performed flawlessly with low SWR on all bands for all these years, but now, due to recent surgery for severe arthritic stenosis. I'm restricted in my activities. So, I've had the tower and antennas taken down to dispose of them.

And, you know what? The beam still looks great! There are no signs of deterioration anywhere!

There is no question that your website is correct, "Mosley antennas are handed down from one generation to another. Forgive my long ramble, but I just had to tell the whole story.

This antenna has been at the top of my tower for 35 years and this is the first time that it has required any kind of servicing.

I would like to congratulate Mosley for your excellent product.  We have a somewhat extreme climate at this location in Montreal.  During an ice storm a few years ago the MP33 was caked in approximately 1 inch of solid ice.  I felt sure the whole contraption was going to come down.  The elements were very severely bent from the horizontal but once the ice melted all elements assumed their correct orientation.

I thought I would e-mail a picture I recently took of two Turkey Vultures sitting on my 40+ year old TA33. You have engineered it well for wind load as well as bird load. I bought the TA33 in about 1965 direct from Mosley. Over the years I have made a few repair, the most significant being after an 8 inch snow storm in Nebraska which was accompanied by 80 mph winds. The only repair required was replacing one section of aluminum tubing. The reflector was blown off the boom, which probably due to my not tightening the u bolt sufficiently. Over the years I have had the beam installed at 4 different locations and took the opportunity each time it was reassembled to inspect it and replaced an insulator or hardware as needed.  I was always able to get the parts I needed from Mosley.

Currently it is at the 25 feet level and the SWR curves are pretty typical of what is shown in the catalog and in the instruction sheet. Since final tuning, where we had to legthen the elements about 2.5" on each side from the specs in the manual, I have worked 34 countries on 20 and 15 CW and SSB, both at 100 watts and 500 watts in less than two days. Here is a small sample for you to get an idea of the performance from Miami, Florida: Antarctica, W. Samoa, Algeria, Surimame, Equador, Macedonia, Poland, Wales, Scotland, Zambia, Chagos Island and on and on. The fact that the antenna was completely intact after the eyewall of the hurricane, with sustained winds of 145 MPH, passed just 12 miles from my house was very reassuring. My tower is in a location where it is fully exposed for about a mile from the South East to the South West where the strongest winds came from. The antenna rotated about 45 degrees on the mast from the stress of the hurricane force winds. All of the nuts on the U bolts securing the antenna to the mast were all torqued down tightly. It just rotated on the mast. Many other hams in town either sustained heavy damage to their towers and or antennas due to the hurricane or lost them completely. GE folks especially Gary, Email shall serve as initial notification that I am sending a CD with JPG pictures of my Mosley PRO-67 mounted at 70 feet height which survived its seventh or so ice storm. I'm the original owner and the antenna has been up for many years since new. Of particular note is the fact that the ice storm occurred April 6, 2003 and lasted over a 3 to 4 day period to be subsequently finished with about 4" of snow. This is Spring in Washington Twp, Michigan (30 miles North of Detroit). The ice storm was touted as the worst hitting this area in 30 years. Over 200,000 people of Detroit Edison and Consumer's Power were without electricity, with up to 6 days outage. A tree even fell on our garage causing damage. WA5FRF, I got the PRO-67-C up today. What a great antenna! It loaded right up on all bands and performs great. I have simple antennas (dipoles and a ground plane) up for many of the bands with the ability to quickly switch between them for comparisons. The beam is really working! Thanks for a great antenna. Hence the reason for the spring inspections. To help prevent the breaking of the insulators and screws on the driven elements, I have backed them up with heavy-duty plastic ties. The black plastic ties can be seen in the photo. Back in 1979, I started with a Mosley TA-33. I have tried other manufactures antennas, but was never satisfied with their performances. The low SWR, average 1.2-1 on 10 thro 20 meters, the low wind surface area and the reports I receive from stations around the world, makes this an antenna to be proud of. Thank you Mosley. April 2, 2006 - Greetings Gary Sr,    Thought I had better report on the antenna that you shipped  to me last month...No problem at all to assemble and fix to the tower, yesterday was our first bit of wind it did not even sway so that was impressive, on the few contacts that I have made I am receiving better reports than what I give and I am only tuning up to 80 watts also swr is so low that I have by passed the atu and direct couple into the rig, Mostly on cw but have edged up the band  (20 mtrs ) on phone a few times still low swr,15 mtrs is the same but will have to use the tuner for 10mtrs if it ever opens up agn.  Only hiccup was that I had to pay GST to Govt before they would release it, anything over the value of $400.oo NZ has to pay Goods and Services Tax (thieving hounds )  Oh well it is up and going and you have a satisfied customer enjoying what others have told me regards es tnx 73 cheers for now Stan ZL2BLQ....ZL2SWR (club) trustee

I purchased the TA-33-M-WARC with the TA-40-KR attachment in June of 2000 and was able to get my new addition up by the end of summer. It out performs my old tri-band beam (from a big name manufacturer) hands down. I am breaking through pile ups running barefoot (100w) when I always had to fire up the amp with the old antenna. I am amazed at how well the antenna performs on the WARC bands even though your specifications say there is no forward gain. You might want to check your figures again, because it sure performs more like a beam than a dipole. Last winter gave me a much better appreciation for the quality and strength of Mosley products. During one of the first snow storms we were blasted with a storm that had winds clocked in excess of 80 miles per hour. Not only did the antenna withstand the winds, it even survived the chimney cap from my stove ricocheting off of it. We have been getting a lot of questions about our gain figures. It appears that some will put out or say anything to promote their products, Below is a field test "E" plane of a TA-33 on 15 meters. Gain is a function of boom length, not the type of element used. Period!

BAKER ISLAND

Using the Mosley Mini 33A 3 Element beam on Baker Island

I was chosen as a team member for the Baker Island DXpedition.When I planed my trip to Baker Island I would have the opportunity to travel via Fiji and Tuvalu on the way to Baker Island I made plans to stay on Tuvalu and operate for 3 days going and one day on the return trip.

I needed a portable beam for my trip and choose the Mosley Mini 33A beam because it was small and very light weight.I needed it small enough to fit in my golf case where the portapole, coax, rope guys and other antenna stuff goes.

I contacted Gary at Mosley and he was more than happy to help with my requirements. I had him cut the boom in half so it would be no longer than 3 foot. He sleeved it to make assemble possible using the mounting plate U bolts. I further modified the antenna by cutting the long end tubes down so they would be no longer than 47 inches and sleeved it for reassembly later using screws. My golf case can only carry 48 inch long objects.

After the modifications I tested the antenna and made some adjustments to the driven element length to bring the SWR down to acceptable levels. I did not have time to tune the driven or reflector for optimum performance as recommended in the manual.

I arrived in Tuvalu and erected the Mini 33A beam atop a portapole that I modified to add an additional 6 feet of height. Rolf Kopeke, the owner of the Hide Away Guesthouse, helped me erect the beam on the portapole in 15 minutes.

I assembled the station consisting of an Icom IC756 Pro II, soundcard interface and computer and started working the bands. I worked a little over 1100 contacts using CW, RTTY and PSK and had good signal reports all around. I turned the beam using my hands with ease.

The Princess II arrived and I partially dissembled the antenna by removing the three elements and taped it all together for transport to the ship. It was loaded on the top deck along side the other antennas and masts for the trip to Baker.

After three days at sea we arrived at Baker Island late in the afternoon. We only had time before dark to erect the Mosley Mini 33A, an MA5B and my 40 meter dipole. The first night we used what we could until the morning when we could set up our camps in earnest.

I was in charge of the southern camp nicked named “Camp David” by the boat crew. Our task was to run RTTY, PSK, SSTV and WARC CW and SSB. The Mosley Mini 33A was used exclusively for RTTY, PSK and SSTV using only 100W from the IC 756 Pro II radio.

The antenna held up very well to the rainsqualls, birds and wind. Not once did the elements get twisted even though 5 Boobie birds were sitting on the antenna at the same time. Everything was bending but when the birds left the beam and pole sprung back to normal.

When it was all said and done we made 4708 QSO’s on RTTY, about 500 on PSK and 75 on SSTV using the Mini 33A. The antenna held up well to the elements, birds and preformed well.

I would like to thank Gary and the team at Mosley for their support and helping with my special requests. I will consider Mosley for my next DXpedition anytime.
